WHAT WE DO

“CASA volunteers play a unique role on behalf of some of our most vulnerable children. Their commitment, vigilance and persistence offer hope where there has been little.”
– Marian Wright Edelman, Founder of the Children’s Defense Fund
CASA/GAL volunteers act as the “center of the wheel” to ensure that the child’s needs and best interests are prioritized in the legal process, particularly during court hearings where decisions related to educational and medical needs, family visits, and living arrangements are made on the child’s behalf. CASA Minnesota is committed to the recruitment, retention, and recognition of these volunteers who play an integral role in the life of the child and family they are working with as well as in our community overall.

What does it mean to advocate for the best interest of the child?

For many of the children we serve, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant in an otherwise chaotic life.
