Other Ways to Help

After reading about what CASA volunteers do and exploring what makes a good CASA volunteer, you may realize that being an actual CASA volunteer isn't the best fit for you right now. That's OK—there are still many ways that you can support the important work that CASA Minnesota does in the lives of abused and neglected children! In addition to donating your financial resources, you can also get involved with CASA through the opportunities described below.

Volunteer with the CASA MN Board of Directors

The CASA Minnesota Board of Directors is always looking for kindred spirits to assist in our strategy, planning, operations, and activities. We have numerous initiatives underway in the following areas:

  • Organizational development
  • Strategic planning
  • Fundraising, including event planning, donor database development, and writing grant applications
  • Marketing, including research as well as print, local media, and online communications
  • Legislative activities, including lobbying and other communications
  • Public speaking, including presentations at local venues to raise awareness of CASA activities and impact

Sound like a skills match? Please contact us to explore potential opportunities with the CASA MN Board of Directors.

Contribute to local CASA programs

Throughout the calendar year, we organize and conduct various activities to support our local CASA programs. Our work is focused on recruiting and retaining top-notch, dedicated volunteers, and requires the help of lots of planners and workers. These activities include things like:

  • Volunteer recruitment events, from casual happy hour networking events to more formal presentations
  • Volunteer training as part of the 40-hour pre-service education requirement
  • Volunteer conferences, held annually for CASA volunteers across Minnesota in order to maintain the highest standards of education and training in our volunteer army
  • Volunteer retention events designed to show volunteers our deep appreciation for their work as well as help them network, share information, and encourage each other in a fun and positive environment

In addition, we are always looking for local businesses, religious organizations, and other groups who can contribute to our events in creative ways—things like food, supplies, and time! For example, our friends at the Outback Steakhouse restaurant in Bloomington, MN, have several times contributed delicious food to our volunteer appreciation picnic—thank you, Outback Bloomington! In addition, the alumnae association of Kappa Alpha Theta has contributed decorations, volunteer appreciation gifts, and time working at events for more years than we can remember—thank you, Thetas!

In short, there are many ways that you can get involved with the important work that CASA is doing. Sound interesting? We'd love to brainstorm with you! Please contact us to get the ball rolling.
